# MPP

> Use MPP to pay for Browserbase sessions through Link.

The [Machine Payments Protocol (MPP)](https://mpp.dev) is an open protocol co-authored by Stripe and Tempo that lets agents pay for APIs and services programmatically.

Use [Link](https://link.com/agents) to approve a payment for a Browserbase session. Link CLI pays with a Stripe [Shared Payment Token (SPT)](https://docs.stripe.com/agentic-commerce/concepts/shared-payment-tokens), and you connect to the browser with Stagehand, Playwright, or Puppeteer. You don't need a Browserbase account or API key.

**Endpoint:** `https://mpp.browserbase.com`

## How it works

The `link-cli mpp pay` command handles the payment challenge, approval, and paid request.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Request a session">
    Link CLI sends a request with the number of minutes you need. Browserbase returns `402 Payment Required` with a payment challenge in the `WWW-Authenticate` header.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Approve in Link">
    Open the approval URL returned by Link CLI and review the amount. After you approve, the CLI retrieves a Shared Payment Token and retries the request with an `Authorization: Payment` credential.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect to the session">
    After verifying payment, Browserbase creates the session and returns its `connectUrl` and expiration time. Connect over CDP to start browsing.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Pricing

Pay **0.50 USD for 250 minutes** of browser access.

Check the `402` challenge for the current amount before paying. The response's `expiresAt` value tells you when the session expires.

## Before you begin

Make sure you have:

* [Link CLI](https://docs.stripe.com/agentic-commerce/agents/link-agent-wallet/machine-payments), which provides the `link-cli mpp pay` command.
* A [Link account](https://app.link.com) with an eligible saved payment method.
* Stagehand, Playwright, or Puppeteer to control the browser.
